I had a lovely experience at the Allen Street Grill. It had been close to eight years since my last visit. We had no wait for dinner with a reservation and we had a booth in the bar area, overlooking South Allen Street.
We tried the ravioli of the day and the cedar plank salmon, and both were very tasty, with hearty portions. The menu is now more "Spat's" inspired, due to some collaboration with the restaurant formerly located a block away above what was the Rathskellar. I had not expected this, but the fusion made for very interesting menu options and I wanted to try several different items.
I had a sparkling cocktail, which was delicious. We also had one of the other signature rum-based cocktails which was very strong (but no complaints here!).
The service was speedy and friendly, and we were well taken care of our entire meal. The dress was a mix of casual and slightly more dressy, and the restaurant is certainly a less casual crowd than that of the attached Corner Room.
Overall, between the food, service, and atmosphere we had a delightful experience and I look forward to returning in the near future.
