Saw laptop I was I interested in. Asked a family member to pick it up for me. Suggested they ask sale associate if they (family member) call me and get me on phone with associate and I would pay via credit card. Associate said no due to "security". Family then left store. I called the store. I asked what "security" they were talking about. I just purchased furniture more expensive than a laptop over the phone with no issues. The associate said they'd have to connect me with a national payment center or something similar. After some back and forth I said it was sad that best buy will lose a sale to Amazon. He then thanked me for wasting his time. So professional. Best Buy need not worry that I'll ever waste their time again.
Since late November and early December of last year, I have purchased around $2,500 worth of products and services from Best Buy. Everything is pretty nice, the service, the representatives actually giving you attention and the products are great. However, their main weakness is that Geek Squad is poor and they have little to no understanding of products or how to help customers out. When I called to ask why I couldn't get my monitor to display 2560x1440 correctly, I wasn't given any helpful information. After I hung up, I found buttons on the back of the monitor and a bit of tinkering later, I got it to work properly for both the audio and video. So nice customer service and products, but Geek Squad is not very helpful and could easily be a deal breaker to the right person.
