Educational and fun. Walk in, or if you're bringing a class of kids, schedule an introduction. Senior staff is very knowledgeable about the subject matters. Take your family inside to learn about York County's natural features from prehistoric times to the present. You will be surprised by the variety of exhibits there and I guarantee you will learn something new. This is also a good experience for kids unused to museums as it is small, friendly and free. They'll learn to stop and read the info plaques and learn from the experience. Once you've had enough learning you can step outside and enjoy the great outdoors, with a nice long trail through the woods. There is also a nice outdoor educational garden, which has a seating area by the creek. We stop there often for a quick picnic before heading home. Give the place a chance and you will appreciate it. The taxidermy hall is much better than you'd expect in little old York County! Head over to Nixon Park some weekend and have some fun with your family.
