We've stayed at the Bedford Springs Resort about 4 times in the last three years. We live near DC and this has been a real find. It's only two hours drive. The people are very friendly. I imagine the have smiling practice everyday before work. They make a lot of the history of the place which is impressive. (Omni seems to like history as at the DC Omni Shoreham they have some authentic 50s dishes on the menu, which was that hotel's heyday). The indoor pool is great as is the outdoor one which serves food and drinks at your lounge chair. The golf course is lovely and interesting to play, with a new golf club restaurant overlooking the course. The new club was definitely missing until this year. S'mores over fire out front, hammocks out front. Dogs allowed. I had the steak salad this visit and the steak was actually an oustanding steak, not surprised though as their regular restaurant has great steaks. And they offer specials from time to time which we follow closely. We just had two days there at $160 a night. It's usually a good deal more, though. Great for fall colors.
