I have had checks written to me from a person with a PNC account for months. I have always been able to call the PNC office and ask if the check written to me would have sufficient funds to put it through. I do not want any other information, not the balance, nothing, just if I can put the check through, that there were enough funds in the account to cover the check written to me. After all these months, an "Amy" at the branch office refused to give me the information and said they were not permitted to do so; this after I have been doing it for months. It saves me any bounced check fees and a lot of hassle if there is not enough money to cover the check. She refused to help me.
