Keith Moser

Bought a new Mazda 3 back in 2010 from Scott Mazda and remember having some sort of issue with them back then. I never had my car serviced there; only went there when I had a recall once or twice. Flash forward to 2018 and I'm shopping for a larger vehicle for my growing family, and we're looking at several dealerships, and because I can't remember exactly WHY I wrote them off 8 years ago, I figure why not check out the CX-5. Go in, talk to Zach who seems like a decent guy, maybe a little cocky and on auto-pilot just talking about features of the car, but he's a sales guy, so whatever. Test drive it and come back a few weeks later to talk numbers. Get my car appraised, and ask for numbers (that we got at other dealers)-what if we put $X down for a 5-year loan to buy OR if we put $Y or $Z down for a 3-year lease with 12K miles per year. Zach doesn't write anything down & I ask him if he needs me to, but he repeats what I said, so I think he'll get me what I want. NOPE! He comes back with just the monthly payment for $X down to buy (my wife and I were leaning to lease). I tell him we need the lease numbers and repeat $Y or $Z down, 12K/year, 3-year lease. He leaves and comes back with a payment half of the original purchase cost but it's only for $Z down and 10k/year. Seems they don't know how to listen to their customers. Then the sales manager, Keith, comes in and does the normal "What can I do to get you to buy today?" I wanted to tell him, "Give your customers the numbers they asked for" but instead just talk trade in. They were gonna give me $1800 for my Mazda 3 and other dealerships were willing to give $2000. He increased the offer to $2200 for the trade in, but we still weren't gonna make any deals that day. The car I was looking at was the only color combination they had, so I gave them a $100 deposit just to hold the car. Zach & Keith never told me, however, that refunds on the deposit can only be done M-F 9-5. I did a deposit at a different dealership, and was able to get the refund on a Saturday afternoon. So anyway, I don't remember the exact reasons why I chose to write them off in 2010, but I know now. Their staff are cocky jerks, the only way they negotiate are by giving you their numbers & ignoring your requests, and keeping info from you while taking your money. I ended up saving almost $100/month on the lease by going to Young Mazda in Easton (who gave me $3000 for my car!) and the staff there were all great! Avoid Scott dealerships at all costs!
