Don't call them! My husband was in severe pain so we called 911 in Harrisburg PA. People who work for South Central EMS arrived after twenty minutes or longer. Quite a long time for a potential emergency. They looked at him. He ultimately decided not to go to the hospital since it was a holiday and he felt he wasn't so bad as to prevent the EMS people from helping others in more dire need. We were told to sign a paper that they had been there and offered service. We signed it. Whoa! a few weeks later we receive a bill for an "Ambulance". We didn't order an "Ambulance" or use the alleged "Ambulance". The bill was for over $300! I called their offices and was told by their office manager that is the way it is done here. You "pay to play" or in this case "pay for help". It was explained to me that in Harrisburg, if you call 911 they send out a private ambulance firm whether you ask for one or not. If you do not belong to a "Club" for which there are yearly dues, your insurance company will not pay for an ambulance because "you signed the paper". We are not from here, and we were not told of this charge even though we didn't ask or use an ambulance. I am writing this to let others know BEFORE they call 911 who I guess is in business with these "Ambulance" companies. I checked around and if you search GOOGLE it shows you the other companies and reviews of them. They aren't good let me tell you. From FBI involvement to horrible service. Never have I seen such a flagrant out and out scam from a healthcare provider. I am pursuing other legal solutions to bring awareness to companies like these. Caveat Emptor...Buyers (or sick people) Beware! You may as well drive yourself to the emergency room because by the time they get there and get their hands on your wallet, you won't need help anymore. So sad and totally wrong...Shame on you.
