My phone crashed and couldn't boot. I thought I would have to pay the deductible (about $200) via the insurance plan, or pay off the busted phone and get a new one. I told the sales associate that manufacturer's warranty was 1 year, and I've had the phone for 14 months. The sales associate (I wish I could remember the fella's name) said something along the lines of (and I'm paraphrasing here) "Let's call our warranty department-- sometimes there are still options from the manufacturer." The sales associate dialed up the warranty department on his own phone and explained my phone's specific malfunction to the guy in the warranty department. After a few minutes, the guy from the warranty department said that the manufacturer was aware of that particular issue with my particular model and extended the warranty!
I'm grateful that the sales associate had the idea to call the warranty department, because I wouldn't have thought of that on my own, given that I was already past 12 months of ownership. He could have pushed me into a solution that would have resulted in me shelling out hundreds of $, but, instead, he found that solution that worked best for me. Thanks a lot for your help!
