Wilkes-Barre General Hospital

This was the single worst hospital experience of my life. My son was taken in simply for a medical evaluation before being admitted to first hospital for anxiety problems. We got there at 1:30pm and all throughout the day and only when I asked, were we told “we’re just waiting for transportation”. Then the next person said “were waiting on a bed”. Which we were told we already had even before getting there. We sat in that hallway for 4 hours with very little information given and that was only when I asked myself. At about 6 my son said he wanted to leave. His anxiety from just sitting there was thru the roof. They then said to follow them and the put him in the back in a locked down situation because he was not allowed to leave they said. But we were told his transport to first hospital was before 11:00 pm. Then at 11 we were actually told that transport had stopped for the day but that they could bring him at 8:30 in the morning. He was never even offered medication for his anxiety until I asked for it which was when they put him in lockdown. That night a nurse was very apologetic saying it shouldn’t have taken more than 3 hours. Absolute worst experience and neglectful staff I have ever witnessed. Will never ever go back there and never recommend to anyone
