I went to Scott Pre-owned today to see a 2013 GMC Terrain. I met with Ron Sivonda who was a very courteous and professional salesman. We test drove the vehicle and he let me know that there was another interested party who came in earlier but did not put a deposit on the vehicle so it was still available. After the test drive I told him I was interested in the vehicle. He had me sign a tentative agreement that if an agreement was made in regards to the terms that I would purchase the vehicle today. I signed. I previously told him I wanted my husband to see if first but decided to sign the agreement as the vehicle was exactly what I was looking for.
My trade was valued and a price agreed upon and I agreed to pay the listed price of the vehicle. While waiting I even called my insurance company to see what my insurance would be and checked my financial institution current loan rates. While waiting I saw someone else test drive the vehicle. I was then told my the Sales Manager that unfortunately I could not purchase the vehicle as the people who were looking at it inquired earlier and traveled from Lebanon to see the vehicle. The had to wait to see if they wanted the vehicle as Scott's policy is to hold a vehicle if someone is traveling in from out of the area.
Obviously my signed tentative agreement meant nothing. What ever happened to first come, first served
