AMC 309 Cinema 9

I really wanted to like this place since it reopened. Today was our first visit since it’s reopened. First, the guest services line was long since they only had one working machine (the second wasn’t working). When we went to pay for our popcorn, the sensor to scan our mobile stubs card wasn’t working, so the clerk had to manually input our account to earn points. Then only one out two butter machines had butter in it. No big, right? But when when I used the restroom, not one out of four of the sinks could dispense soap. Not sure if they were empty or not working. Not a great experience. We will try it one more time, hoping they have their act together a bit better than today. Come on, AMC. Quality control is a thing. You should get some.

The new renovations looks nice, BUT there are some cracks to be filled in. First and foremost, the lobby was filled with smoke from the popcorn. It was like that before and after a movie. It didn't seem that the prep area didn't have proper ventilation at all, not just an equipment fluke. It seems like an amateur but critical design flaw, especially for a long-standing chain like AMC. Getting my drink. I found all but 2 of 8 lid dispensers were empty, and there weren't any of my size under the cabinets, so they had to go into the back to get more. In the actual screening room when the movie started, the lights dimmed but were still brighter than I've seen even in movie taverns. Unlike other theaters, there isn't a walkway or tunnel to absorb the sound from the hallway. Instead the doors were left open for both our movie and for others, so during what should've been a quiet scene in our movie we heard a loud scene of another movie. It wasn't very immersive. I'll still be going back since it seems like some of it is just employees getting adjusted.
