I walked past the salon on my way to Joe's and decided to give their $35 mani/pedi a try. Since I had recently moved, it had been a few months since my last, so I was a little hesitant after reading a couple of the negative reviews, but there were enough awesome positive ones that the negative reviewers must have exaggerated. I made an appointment and it started our OK.. The owner invited me to chose a nail colour.. Once my feet were soaking and the pedicurist got a glance, she looked at me and grimaced. My heals are dry and cracked. She made me fell like I had Shrek's feet. She would try and make eye contact with the owner to maybe get rescued, or sympathy...no clue. I made light conversation saying that it is dry up north in Philly and the central heat is brutal on the feet. She treated my feet roughly....many times I winced in pain. I am pain sensitive and I was definitely handled roughly. Nothing at all was relaxing....I was highly uncomfortable for the first time in my life during a pedicure. The girl tried to upsell and recommend a treatment for cracked feet for an additional $5. I said, "No Thank you" She went at the feet with the pumice with great theatrics. They don't use graters or the razor shavers....just pumice. The massage on the legs was rough and uncomfortable...as was the entire pedicure. The owner slathered my feet with body cream and wrapped saran on them. OK...more attention to my Shrek feet. I'm now feeling like a total Leper. Move onto the manicure. The owner did this and all went well. She is very pleasant and I enjoyed our conversation. As I was drying my nails, the girl returned to roughy "massage me" and hammer at my back. I felt like a punching bag....again highly uncomfortable. Feeling forgotten at the dryers I asked the owner if I was done and she hollered for the girl, who returned to put my shoes on. She was awkward at this, so I assisted her and went to the cash to pay. I had in my mind to give the $35 plus $10 tip, even though the girl was the worst I have ever had....the owner was nice. The owner told me it would be $40, so I guess she already added a tip on it for the misfortune of looking at my Shrek feet. :( I struggled to figured out whether I am supposed to tip ontop of a tip then thought, no....it would be odd since the service was the worst I have ever experienced. I miss my Raleigh nail salon, but I will eventually find one in Ardmore. Unfortunately Daisy Nails did not relax me, and left me humiliated.
