November 2016 I had my annual eye exam with this particular store and as of January 2017 when I was calling to get my prescription validated they could not help me because they were locked out of my file. They were locked out because they could not keep one single eye doctor employed and my record was frozen. Fast forward 4 months of not being able to get anywhere- they did allow me to see a new "temporary" doctor who gave me my same current prescription print out that I had been needing in order to get new glasses/contacts. Today I called to simply try on different lenses and they told me I was unable to do so and would need to see a doctor AGAIN just to try on samples.. because every lense is so different?! Yes, they are different which is why I wanted to try them on. WORST COMPANY/STORE ever this has been the most frustrating experience! Do yourself a favor and go to Sterling Optical if the location is what you are looking for. They are also located in Capital City Mall.
Doctor is great but overall customer service and professionalism is very poor. My insurance covers full for frame and a substantial amount for the lens each calendar year. I was told for any frame, it would be free but lens would be $550 with all the extra coatings etc that I don't need. Seriously? Since I have a very low power and only wear it when I need it, I asked if they had anything that's basic. I was told they only had one type lens and all the coatings etc are part of the lens and my co-payment for the lens is $550. After I had him review my coverage again, price dropped to $235, then when I asked for my prescription so I can go somewhere else, that price dropped to $125 then finally $65. I've had exams and glasses from this same location in the past. The last couple of times I noticed they can't understand my coverage and quote an amount as if my insurance doesn't cover anything. I am very well aware of my insurance coverage and have been using the same plan without any coverage changes for 12+ years, but lately this place is becoming very hard to deal with. They need to train their staff to understand insurance coverages for different plans and stop marking up prices on lens to cover differences on frames. I'm very unhappy with their service and I don't think i'll be going back there anytime soon.
