Lesson learned as new homeowner... be sure to conduct a through review of any vendor you have do work at your home. Not just the actual project itself, but equally if not more important is the support that vendor provider delivers; hence their guarantee and standing behind their work. Upon a referral, and my lack of checking for reviews (my fault), we hired Terra Flora upon purchase of our home to install a mix of new plantings based on specific stated needs and interests that we had voiced. Part of what you pay for with a service provider is their years of experience and subject matter excellence. In this case John Brunnet, owner, promised and yes'ed my wife into a $4,000 invoice. Now, he and his team delivered on all the requests; however, within year 1 found some issues with how a number of the plantings were taking to their new environment. Not so well in many cases due to lack of sun as well as non-natural to region plantings that he included. We've spoken a few times about re-mediating a few of our concerns which at the time of the calls is what I would have expected from a professional. However, months went by from our initial call, I left 5 non-responded messages since... all along giving him the benefit of the doubt that his crew was busy or other things popped up (live has a habit of doing that.) However, due to John Brunnet's silence, I am now taking to yelp (which I'm an Elite level reviewer) and writing what I never thought I'd be reporting. John should have offered other recommendations for plantings, including even suggesting we hold off to get those specific species which were hard to come by due to lack of inventory of said plantings through his nursery connections. That would have be the professional thing to say. He opted for the quick one time sale not knowing that my $4,000 would include this review. So, in summary, check references and ask about post service support for this or any vendor you hire to do work at your home.
